Kizuna Senior Tech was born from a simple yet profound observation: while technology continues to advance at breakneck speed, many older adults are being left behind in the digital divide. We witnessed grandparents struggling to video call their grandchildren, seniors avoiding online banking due to security concerns, and older adults missing out on the convenience, connection, and empowerment that technology can provide.
The word "kizuna" (絆) means "bond" or "connection" in Japanese, and it perfectly encapsulates our philosophy and purpose. We're not merely teaching technology; we're helping to strengthen and forge new bonds between seniors and their families, their communities, and the broader digital world that surrounds us all.
Our founder, having witnessed their own grandparents' struggles with modern devices, recognized that traditional technology education wasn't designed with older adults in mind. The fast-paced, jargon-heavy approach of most tech tutorials left seniors feeling frustrated and excluded. This realization sparked the creation of Kizuna Senior Tech – a platform specifically designed to meet older adults where they are, with patience, respect, and understanding.
Since our establishment, we've worked with hundreds of seniors across Japan and beyond to learn technology skills. Our experiences include grandparents who now regularly video chat with family overseas, seniors who have learned to manage their finances online, and older adults who have discovered new hobbies and communities through digital platforms.
